LOL, bikes aren’t a real alternative to a car. They’re a nice addition, sure, and they can save you some driving, but they don’t come close to offering the same utility.

My claim was “Well that would necessitate a constitutional amendment, and I don't see why WI, RI, ND, etc. would go for it” And I stand by that.

You should read it sometime, it has some real bangers.

It’s not speculation that a constitutional amendment would have a much higher burden, like a three-quarters majority of state legislatures. That part is literally in the Constitution, the same document where the Electoral College is prescribed as the instrument to elect the president.
December 18, 2025 at 2:27 PM
No, not go for it enough to pass a binding constitutional amendment, which has much higher burdens than a voluntary, non-binding pinky swear.
December 18, 2025 at 8:00 AM
And the first time it is challenged by any vote, once invoked, it will be ruled unconstitutional. And for a real constitutional amendment, there are far higher burdens than for a voluntary, non-binding pact.

Well that would necessitate a constitutional amendment, and I don't see why WI, RI, ND, etc. would go for it. The same conditions that made this, the compromise in the 1700s still exist.

Nobody cares about that. He won the Electoral College both times. The popular vote isn’t even mentioned in the Constitution; it’s totally irrelevant.

Yep. In fact, it probably even helps in some cases if more of, say, Walmart is controlled by institutional investors instead of the Walton family. Do you think those investors would accept the same abysmal returns on investment the Walton's do?

Because it is totally irrelevant to the topic on hand?

In my observation from folks with which I spoke about inflation, they did not simply desire the cessation of inflation, but rather the return to prices prior to 2021 so deflation in fact.

Grocery chains? Are you freaking kidding me? As a small business owner, if any of my businesses had the net profitability of, say, Amazon retail, Walmart, or Kroger, they’d catch fire.
December 17, 2025 at 10:25 PM
Which again, at least the latter two would increase inflation. I own multiple small businesses, and increased labor costs are one of the main reasons why I’ve raised prices more in the last four years than I did in the previous ten.

I don’t get the outrage here about the defense spending part. After Trump was rightly accused of being a danger to both NATO deterrence and our defense of Taiwan and other allies in the Pacific by some of the same people, it’s odd. If you want us to fulfill those obligations, that’s going to cost.

It’s both cheaper, adjusted for inflation, and better than before. We used to easily spend $20–$30 a weekend on video rentals for my family.
