How do these DTES plan changes protect current residents without reinforcing the historic concentration of poverty and high-needs housing in one neighbourhood, and what city-wide housing commitments are needed to support this?

What specific problem is fare-free transit meant to solve?

Why would areas outside of purple not be suitable to single stairs buildings?

I'm going to start taking photos on my walks crossing W 67th and Oak st.

Eagerly waiting for Marpole.

I get it, but connecting historic apologies to casual behaviour seems overstated. Institutional actions and daily interactions differ in scope and intent. Both matter, and one doesn’t negate progress in the other. Institutions own systemic harm, not individual acts-mixing them blurs accountability.

So if I were to dumb this down for my understanding.

Imagine the Province said:
“All apples can now have stickers.”

But Vancouver said:
“We don’t call them apples. We call them red fruits.”

And the law only applies to “apples,” not "red fruits."

Is the solution to just amend the charter?

It’s honestly wild that the city with some of the worst housing shortage keeps getting left out of provincial reforms. The Charter really needs to be updated - this separate system doesn’t make sense anymore.

Have a random question for you: Why do we keep using sqft for unit of area while most other things are metric?

Here you go, haha.

The Marpole BIA has been pushing pretty hard against this, citing that it will "devastate the local businesses and community." 😅

Thank you, Councillor Zhou!

It baffles me that this is how the city approaches planning—project by project, with little sense of the bigger picture.

It feels like we wouldn’t even be in this mess today if 'gentle density' had been allowed decades ago, instead of prioritizing the protection of single-family zoning across most of the city.

W 70th Ave & Heather St.

I see an accident/near miss here almost every week. Also, Heather's marked as a bike route, but drivers frequently fly through stop signs like they don't exist. Overall, bad visibility, nonexistent biking infrastructure, and no respect for cyclists/pedestrians.

Work planned for 2028-2032? Seems excessive. What is up with that timeline?
