Where did I say they were? This version of the Liberal party is certainly more centrist. But again, I wasn’t commenting on where the Liberal party currently sits on the political spectrum. I was commenting about the fact that the right is using the Liberals’ applauding to divide the left.

By the way, the Liberals did block a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk today before the speech and clapping against political violence, so I think the Liberals’ position is pretty clear.

Sorry I meant to say: You would allow your vote to go to waste and end up propping up PP, because a con said we should always condemn political violence, and the Liberals clapped for it? That’s an insane position. I think it is very clear they were not clapping for Charlie Kirk.

Yup! It’s already causing division among left Facebook groups. Exactly what the cons want 🙄 Even a broken clock is right twice a day and if we refuse to acknowledge the cons when they are right, it just gives them ammo against us. This isn’t hard. Political violence = bad.

Because she did. And she said RIP and we should think of his widow and children. But most of her statement was about condemning political violence, which everyone should agree with in a free and democratic society.

I completely agree. Because Rachel Thomas’ statement was well crafted, the Liberals had to agree with it. Otherwise, they would be as hypocritical as the right. I agreed with what Rachel Thomas said! That doesn’t mean I agree with anything Charlie Kirk said. He was vile!

I agree with you. I don’t buy this weaving bullshit. If we want to call out the hypocrisy of the right, we certainly should not become hypocrites ourselves just because they said Kirk’s name. Political violence is bad, M’k? It’s bad no matter who is killed and no matter who says it.

This is just divisive. If we can’t even agree that people should not be murdered for speech (even vile speech), just because we don’t like who said it, or because she added an RIP for a dead guy we don’t like, then aren’t we just as bad. Free speech for me but not for thee?
