Nope, I actually say the specific years I have in mind in this very thread.

There was a use for generations in the immediate HD era because so much discussion revolved around SD vs HD and how that changed development processes, costs, time, etc. Nintendo following their own timeline with Wii U + Switch made the whole idea silly because (as you said) no one could agree

The disconnect here is that I was talking about 2005-2013. There was a practical use case for them at the time.

My sub cancels intermittently, can confirm you don't lose your playlists. The offline listening files get removed from your device I think, my downloads all disappear when my sub lapses.
