I would love to hear about your lessons being on this side of the game industry. We're a dev learning more about publishing, you're a publisher learning more about development. I wonder how different or alike our positions would be on some things.

Artistic mediums aren't leaderboards. You don't have to play it all. You can't play it all anyway. Play what you want to play. Play the old game you already finished three times. Play that thing you were putting on hold for fear of not having enough time to finish it. It's the best way to ENJOY.

As someone who leans too much into "life maximization", I think this way of thinking can poison your love of the medium. I used to force myself to play everything at the start of my career and I'm glad that I caught myself in time as I was burning myself on my passion.

healthy self criticism is perhaps the most important skill to develop as an adult. being able to recognize your own strengths & weaknesses and accepting them humbly. it's amazing how little other people's opinions matter once you've decided to critique yourself openly and honestly.

That he'd be unaware of how loved his work was is hitting me hard. My 4 years old son frequently ask that we play the intro theme or Wily's Castle.

Live long enough to get lucky. Keep yourself accountable od every failure. Learn, improve and persevere. When a door closes, keep looking for the next one.

My feelings are more capricious than that :-P But my alarm now is Chrono Cross' soundtrack, starting with the wonderful Time's Scar

I tried using it as my alarm clock sound for a while but it felt too intense to wake up to.

When all your options are poisonous, can't blame you for choosing to swallow the sweeter one 🙃
