I actually thought that the movie was very homophobic. Let’s face it, Ridley Scott can’t resist a bad old homophobic trope in his movies. The worst was the depiction of the emperor Caracalla. Of course “degenerate” = gay in the mind of Mr. Scott. Such a bad movie.
