That's strange, it "should" work fine wherever it's linked from. It's just a website (like the old days😆).

Make sure it has the https:// at the front.

Great summary. What's even worse is that these tracking mechanisms (is it still Facebook Pixel in this case?) will track users across multiple websites even if they don't have a Facebook account!

I’m excited for the future of Bluesky when its full potential is realised - where users can choose their providers and tailor their experience.

The foundations are solid but there’s a journey ahead!

Or what about a billionaire oligarch controlling an algorithm to silently boost his idiotic thoughts while burying those calling out his lies and misinformation, all the while claiming that this is some utopian vision of “free speech”.

Big tech companies already hold an alarming amount of unchecked power, quietly shaping societies to fit their own agendas. It’s time to pull back the curtain on their influence.

The problem is compounded as he has a huge social media platform under his control. We are turning a blind eye to the incredibly dangerous power these platforms have. Put simply they can easily determine our political leanings and steer our behaviour and beliefs based on these.

I'm sure there are people to whom this applies. What's even more worrying is the social media platforms themselves can drive behaviour (eg voter turnout) without even having to resort to lies at all! (Eg see Facebook study www.nature.com/articles/nat...)
Facebook experiment boosts US voter turnout - Nature
Mass social-network study shows that influence of close friends raises participation.

The public discourse around these topics is lacking. Digital platforms being able to easily predict political alignment as well as increase voter turnout is self evidently bad.

In order to tame a beast, it's helpful to name it. I think "Social Steering" does the job. socialsteering.org
