1. It's not a pay cut.
2. Long commutes are bad, everyone should welcome cutting their commute shorter.
3. What if the company relocates regardless if this policy was in place or not.

Probs not what the op meant but 10% isn't nearly enough to compensate for the increase on rent to be that close.

What really separates the wheat from the chaff is resiliency (CON). You could have the goods but if you fold at the smallest obstacle you're done.

If I was HJ I'd be spooked by a charasmatic elected who has proven to be able to mobilize 50%+1 of the left leaning voting population on an odd year and would make certain guarantees to not turn that swath of the population against me.

I'm curious what kind of handshake agreement ZM and HJ, if at all, came to.
I'm not familiar with either person to guess would either speak publicly if they did.

Maybe the Sauds convince OPEC to keep prices low and the others keep the promise.

RUS definitely doesn't.

Of course primarily the morality and ethics of this is bad, but like the basic economics of this isn't sound at all.

Political instability raises extraction costs and costs of governing, which raises prices, which competing exporters follow suit cause they're not going to leave money on the table.

We can wave around all the charts and real-world examples of how we can afford UHC, UCC, and a UBI we want but it boils down to "trust me, bro".

Lowering the ROI on spotting him the money would make the ROI on some other venture more appealing.

Because EM used other people's money to buy Twitter, manipulating EM with some kind of wealth tax might not have worked it might have worked on convincing the people who he borrowed the money from.

The counter argument that lower brackets will get more back in benefits than what's taken by taxes is hard to make convincing.
November 21, 2025 at 4:24 PM
The uphill fight is that the argument "raising the tax rate and what's considered taxable on high income earners is the step right before doing the same on lower brackets" is right.
November 21, 2025 at 4:24 PM
It's not just raising the tax rate or what's considered taxable on high earners it's that high earners have a disproportionate affect on politics and on the economy. And raising the tax rate on high earners would tame that affect.

I know you're joking and oversimplifying but that would be so gross. There's an onramp to a highway at the end of my driveway so I hear highway traffic all day and I would have to drive everywhere? I couldn't walk anywhere?

I hate everything about this.
