lil thing i wrote for a #backrooms -esque concept i've had on my mind lately
You’ve been traveling for god knows how long. The forest never falters. A constant stream of snow has been tormenting your journey, the never-ending storm, seemingly heating up yet still so cold. You feel your limbs go numb, your legs freeze up, and your mind close after so much white. Yet in the distance, you can see it. Amidst the fury of falling snow and numerous trees, you catch a glimpse of what you’ve been seeking: shelter. You head inside and find it’s been abandoned for quite some time. The fireplace, filled with all but chars. Shelves filled with dust, cupboards all emptied. But surely, you can find some warmth. You start searching the house, looking for some firewood. Of course, you could always break apart the furniture, but you’re not that desperate, are you? Or maybe, you’re searching for something else. You’re not sure why, but you start doubting yourself. Whether you are really you. What your motivations were. How did you get here at all? Why were traveling so long just to get to here? You enter the basement and look around. Nothing but webs and dirt it seems like, but as you turn around, you spot an unmarked door in the corner of your eye. You go and enter it. It seems to be a maintenance section of some kind. A lot of pipes, spiraling around a maze of corridors. You’re thankfully warmed by the heat of some, only negated by your now stuffy breathing. You wander, as do your mind. How long have you been searching? How much more can you really, truly, endure? You feel like you’re going to collapse. There was once a time when you felt happiness. When you loved, when you cherished, when you felt anything substantial. “How can I ever be the same again?” A payphone rings. You pick it up. “...There’s still time.” *Click.*
