Owned media is theoretically 'free' to produce for a marketer because the they typically maintain control of the space and content of their message without extra expense.

So there are 3 types of media that marketers can use for advertising purposes: Paid, owned, and earned.
Paid media include ads that are bought and displayed on a platforms that their target consumers will see.
