Spock’s death sequence. The empty chair realization. Spock stiffening his uniform while dying. The final interaction.

Lennon ends with 11 “alrights.” And his voice on that last one is something to behold.

Finding myself singing “Give the Cookie Back to Sally” to the tune of “Goin’ Back to Indiana”

The scene in the Sweet Hereafter where Bruce Greenwood’s character watches helplessly as his daughter’s school bus sinks into that lake is seared into my brain forever. So much so, that it’s been 28 years and I can’t bring myself to rewatch the film. I can’t say that about many films

All those photos of rock stars clasping a bottle of Jack or whatnot. And here’s Sterling with a quart of milk.

I mean 1999’s Echo is pretty solid. “Swingin’” “Billy the Kid” .. others.. Stellar playing. Either of those songs could be given a nice live workout by DBT

Solid list. And to tie it back to Los Lobos, how about “Colored Lights”? I’d include “Love and Happiness” and the goofy “Key West Intermezzo”

I saw them perform a lunchtime show at the new Borders Bookstore in Boston, spring of ‘96… just after Colossal Head was released. Weird place for them to play. But it didn’t stop Hidalgo from wailing…

There’s that Johnny Mathis album that got shelved but finally came out. Hague-worthy: Sheila’s King of the World (though “Spacer” is not awful)

So many great albums here. The less than obvious choices are fun. Moby Grape’s debut, FBB’s Gilded Palace of Sin, Ray’s Modern Sounds, JB’s Live Apollo (either/both!), Monk’s Genius vols, B Evans 2 VVanguards, all deserve a shout-out (tho not a top 5)

Let’s not forget “Peace & Love,” which is like John Cale taking Waldo Jeffers on a ride down 128 when it’s dark outside.

“Tears” has connections to Diana’s “Upside Down,” at least to my ears.
