A publisher doesn’t need authors anymore. AI already writes better than 80% of writers. It’s high concepts now. Mashups. Make it slick enough to entice—it doesn’t matter if it’s good as long as it sells.

It’s already dead. You have to pay to get reach. Having followers is a vanity metric. The algorithms decide what you see. And the algorithm wants to be paid.

It’s an old mindset. As an author you don’t feel real until you get an agent and a publisher. That’s how both still exist. We need them more than they need us.
