He communicates telepathically with Des! Even though he doesn't speak, the companions are fairly good at figuring out what he wants (usually food or for one of them to follow him).

Absolutely. Garbanzo's number 1 priority is keeping Des safe, and he likes Karlach's protective nature.

He's also mischievous, and meddles on a few occasions, stealing Des' hair ribbons and spell components and conveniently leaving them in Karlach's tent so Des will have to go retrieve them.

After Des regained conciousness, she finally agreed to follow Scleritas Fel to the temple of Bhaal.

She was left with a small, jagged scar on her upper back and chest, where the knife ran through her.

As good as her foresight is, she often fails to avoid catastrophe. She gets better as she spends more time with the party, and they begin to trust her predictions.
