if somebody on the right has one definition and another person on the right has a wildly different definition and then somebody unites them against a common enemy by using the blanket term "far left" even though nobody is on the same page, that's how the division of left vs right gets even worse

you can if "foundational systems" aren't properly defined or agreed upon. For instance, people saying this was founded as a specifically christian nation when the evidence never said any such thing. So if you say "this isn't the christian nation it was intended to be", well it never was...

lol dude, once again, I wasn't giving my personal definition of anything, I was just trying to explain that the 'far left' can be defined by some and often it's just thought of as thinking in issues only made to piss off the opposition even if the logic is fuzzy/refutable

to several conservatives I've spoken to over the years (in TX and OK), those were their types of textbook examples of how they define far left. You just place that on the spectrum differently

if asking if I've converted MAGA types to liberals then no, but I've explained things like trans murder/suicide rates, how xenophobic language has caused statistically proven hate crimes, how socialized healthcare can lead to reduce homeless populations convincing them it wasnt "just about winning"

Bingo, it's just their way of saying "you guys just want to piss us off, even if there is no logic behind it" That's all. My only additional point is that far too often the genuine logic isnt actually explained so we just get a continuance of people thinking "its all about pissing us off"

decline of what though? I personally don't feel like you can mix economic variables with social standards as one big lumped thing. For ex: certain economic cycles take decades, so if you have a cycle peak/trough that coincides with certain socially liberal thinking that's just correlation vs cause

^^Another point where I'm not disagreeing at all. You guys seem to think I'm right wing. I hate Trump and the far right thinking just as much as you guys do, but I'm trying to explain the thinking behind the definitions because I've taken the time to talk to those types of people and ask

I'm saying that is their definition, you are saying "no, there is no single person who thinks like that", which is fine. But that is still their definition so you can no longer say "who are they referring to" THAT is who they are referring to.

What's absurd about it? Because I don't think politics are a team sport? That I think people should focus on issues vs winning the argument JUST to win the argument? That I think trying to educate the opposition vs just talking trash is helpful because I've seen it work?

I'm not disagreeing with you, and I know full well the statistics of trans suicide and assault. Once again, my point is that people who (At the very least) SEEM to want things that make no logical sense to the right JUST because they think it will piss off them off. Thats what is meant by far left

Which is totally fine, but you will never convince all of them to think like you do, so isn't it more important to help teach them the reasoning so that equal rights actually happen vs back and forth executive orders/repeals, ad infinitum?

and people who essentially imply "they ARE women and you should agree or youre a redneck fascist " is given as the ONLY argument far too often. It helps nobody rather than trying to reason it out so that trans people are provided equal rights, regardless of far right definitions of women

The point is, if you're not trying to understand why the right might have an issue with it then you're not trying to reach progress, you're just trying to make them think like you do. The right doesn't HAVE to agree that somebody with y-chromosome who wants to have a beard is still a woman.
