That sounds well worth exploring! My Russian wife spent a few years as a child in what was Czechoslovakia as my father-in-law was a Red Army colonel and he and his family were posted there. She has many happy recollections of her time there, so I'm sure she would be happy to visit again.

An airbag? Wow, I didn’t know that Nivas were equipped with them. I do miss my Niva and weekends spent exploring the Russian countryside and finding new fishing spots. No smartphone in those days, I navigated with a map.

I used to drive past that building in my Niva in the snow. It's somewhere in southern Moscow if I remember correctly. I'd have The Jam or the Rolling Stones on my cassette player and the juxtaposition couldn't have been greater. British rock'n'roll meets stark Orwellian brutalism.
