The bots are sooo annoying. I'm willing to verify my identity in order to comment, and DM other users. I'm hoping on that one of these social media apps can start identifying its users so this type of issue can be harder for bots to penetrate the shields meant to keep them out.

Everyone should be required to prove who they are, or not be allowed to write DMs or comment. If you're hiding for safety, you should stay hidden until it's safe for you.
Folks want to comment and stay anonymous when that just leaves the door open for trolls and people impersonating other folks.
