Republicans have been ramping up their purity tests for years and are far more voracious, especially these days.

Why is it not ok for Democrats to expel members who do incredibly unpopular things but it's somehow irrelevant to the Republicans.

Again, "celebrating" not "He was literally born on this date on the Julian Calendar."

Not that I have any idea what Hegseth actually believes. I doubt he's even thought about it.

Your point is well made but as someone with a lot of Catholics in the family, absolutely no one believes that Jesus was born on Christmas Day. They teach you in Sunday school that's just the day they observe it.

They even teach you that they chose the winter solstice quite deliberately.

Ironically I have a ton of friends who say it's the best Star Wars series ever and I keep pointing out that it's the least Star Wars-like Star Wars show ever.

It's honestly not too far what how we've portrayed American Founders: young men in their prime willing to stand in the heat of battle when most glorious leaders never left their tents and were too fat, gouty, and hemorrhoidal to mount a horse

Rome fell to a guy who was put on a pedestal to lead them, then they rewrite history to make him seem like he was a great person and not a fat, bloviating elite who had decided his own glory was more important than the Republic on which his alleged greatness was both built and holding him back.

Contrariwise we could respond aggressively in a way that doesn't fundamentally undermine our beliefs in Democratic representation, burning the village down to save it in the case of this proposal.

There are a lot of very, very aggressive and forceful options before we disenfranchised voters in CA

This is a terrible, terrible idea. Look what happened when Republicans had their way and changed redistricting in California: it let to a permanent Democratic supermajority because Democrats were finally represented. You mess with that you start us down the same road of disenfranchising voters.

Acting as if Colbert, Stewart, Meyers, et all haven't spent the last decade *excoriating* Dems for everything from being spineless to propping up Biden is just an absolute lie.

Leno as a host for the tonight show disgusted me. Maybe I was a cynical 20-something, but he punched down, the weaker the subject the more vulgar or aggressive he was.

We were at war all 8 years Obama was president.

Love him or hate him, he left gitmo open, didn't pull out of Afghanistan, kept us in Iraq until 2011, and continued the bombing campaign against Yemen all 8 years.

Well, I can't see why liberal. Progressives would protest a Nazi.

Reddit is literally one of the only platforms left where you can still create a sub or an interest group based on your own intentions without having it manipulated by anything but the users drawn to it.

The fact that it has several shitty subs notwithstanding, it's practically all we have left.

She literally said the absolute opposite of what you just wrote. Absolutely no one should be listening to a word you write. I have been anti-israeli apartheid and pro-palestine for over 40 years and I've learned there is nothing more destructive to our cause than this kind of fake purity testing.

www.imeupolicyproject.org/postelection... demonstrated that 19 million people decided not to vote over this issue, so acting like people pointing this out are bots is a bit disingenuous.

Considering they are replying to a comment that has nothing to do with the OP it's fair game to reply to the commenter how they feel appropriate.

And also that we currently have a situation where Jabba and his gangsters have taken control of the Empire?

Is it so hard to acknowledge that the two parties that jointly built up, backed, and funded our current military industrial complex with the joint backing of the same group of billionaires and corporations may BOTH be the evil empire?

The fact that SF can't keep up with the volume of newly unhoused doesn't mean we aren't working hard as hell to try. Even Lurie with his "move the problem around" is expanding shelters in town.

No argument there, but the solution to making bus stops more dignified is not a pile of someone's belongings that you can't go anywhere near.

Wish he'd have fought back against PG&E, but Mr Fightsback does have a price.
