The hypothetical ships would be full of charged batteries, it would have all the range necessary.

What made me think that it would be maybe useful is that in Quebec we use a lot of electricity for everything, even heating. In cold snaps we lack power. Batteries could be helpful in the winter!

Sure, where feasible. On very long distances it would maybe be NIMBY-proof and more flexible with ships. If hydrogen is financially feasible for energy only, maybe Power-ships™ would work also. I'm not an expert! 🥴

Quick question. Would it be financially sound to export energy with a container ship full of charged batteries some day? Like if a really sunny place charges a ship to send to countries with less renewable energies depending on seasons. 🫣

Yet another proof that the USA is not a democracy. In a healthy democracy, elected officials are subject to resignation, and a scandalous response that shocks a large portion of the population warrants immediate dismissal! Giving them a mandate does not guarantee absolute immunity for four years.

Europeans must find this to be quite funny with their 240 volts outlets for everyday life.

Ça serait tellement parfait pour Québec, plus flexible que le traversier et attirant pour les touristes.

Same here in Canada. Carbone capture is still subsidised in the new federal budget and sold like a way to have clean fossil fuel.

I know. I really hoped Carney's election would bring about a long-term vision with an energy transition goal. But no. As soon as he started talking about "conventional" energy instead of fossil fuels, that was it. Disappointment after disappointment.
