Loved this conversation "talking shop" with another English teacher who cares very, very much about making conversations better—learned a lot that I'm going to use ASAP this year in my own room:

Oh no! Counterfeits. Damn it. I’m going to get some of the ones you and others have suggested to be safe.

Thank you so much for that cert number. 🙏🏼

Funny that the science writer needed to use a story, like a story from religion which is a humanities, to prove his point that the sciences, which is a story of how the world works, have nothing to do with the humanities and stories.

They do it every time.

When I design some assignments, I will come back here and share.

Oh! This is fantastic! Thanks!

I am really going with a writer’s notebook here, but I’ve been struggling with how to bring it together with the argument work.

With fiction, I tend to really lean on characters as human beings having emotions and thoughts we have had, at least fundamentally. 1/2

Thank you for this. As I teach AP Lit, I am plagued by the students who see the skill stuff as real school, and the aesthetic etc stuff as just me being a weird English teacher (which is true, but not the only true). And that comes down to assessment. I’m gonna try and change that this year.
