Delighted to be doing a bit again this year for the Dublin festival of History in my local library in Drumcondra.

The focus of the talk this year is Peter Hoban, revolutionary, footballer, Trade Union leader and a local of Phibsborough

Harrison McCloy is the sixth former Bohemian FC player that I can find listed as having been killed during WWI.

McCloy was a player for Bohemians from 1902-05 and served as a club Vice President from the 1905-06 season through to 1911-12.

More on it here abohemiansportinglife.com/2016/06/29/b...

I'd highly recommend any of the books by my friend Chris Lee from the @outsidewrite.bsky.social blog & podcast.

His latest effort, Shades of Green, is a part history, part travelogue of football in Ireland with some great contributors involved.

Ian Harte when he hears that hard-up Premier League owners like Jim Ratcliffe, Clearlake Capital or the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund just got asked for a 10% sell-on clause by a League of Ireland club.

An ask for @bfcdublin & @LeagueofIreland folks. Am doing a bit of work to try and track down surviving members of Bohs 1974-75 title winning team to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their triumph.

Have got in touch with 5-6 already but appreciate any help getting others.

Not the best photo I know but this Shamrock was carved by Rovers fan out of timber salvaged from Glenmalure Park.

On display in the Little Museum of Dublin.

Christmas games were a regular fixture of the League of Ireland for decades.

The Leinster Senior Cup final would often be played on the 26th.

In 1946 Bohs would win the final 11-0 with Mick O'Flanagan scoring 6 times against Grangegorman.

Saddened to hear of the passing of former @bfcdublin footballer Kevin Murray.

One of young stars who made such an impression as part of Seán Thomas' exciting Bohs team of the mid 1960s.

The ramble down, in winter light, to the Strawberry Hall.

Still a fiver a pint. And one of my old locals. Good Bohs pub.

Couple of pics from our first meeting with the North. September 1978, again in Lansdowne Road.

Despite being the home side we're in white.

My Da was big into photography when I was a little kid and used to bring this big clunky Nikon camera on a neck strap around everywhere.

These are some pics of Ireland v Argentina in Lansdowne Road in 1980. Featuring a young Maradona.

It's a year away but already excited to be going to this! A band I always hoped I'd get to see live at a headline gig.

No idea what he means but there are many historical inaccuracies in Gladiator 2 (as is to be expected). One of which the portrayal of the Emperor Caracalla, who actually was a bearded soldierly type with a North African & Arab heritage.

Spotted last night. If it's an original and not just a good reproduction, it must be over 90 years old.

There are players who had a huge impact on Irish football, were stars & legends in their own lifetime but are now somewhat lost to the mists of time.

Spent a bit of time creating a proper wiki entry for 'Big" Seán McCarthy, some pics here as well.

Arrived yesterday & a beautiful production as always by Glory magazine

Delighted to have piece about the Irish influx into Philadelphia soccer in the 1920s with the creation of the shortlived Philadelphia Celtic.

The man named Henley mentioned in the original clipping from 1955 was the Bohs trainer Les Henley, he played for Arsenal during the Wartime leagues of the 1940s before joining Reading.

He's probably best known though as the long serving manager of Wimbledon.

In the 1920s there was New York Bohemians, in the 1950s there was Nairobi Bohemians 🇰🇪

Fr. Cunningham was the headmaster of St. Mary's School, Nairobi which was founded by Irish priests.

The same school that Lupita Nyong'o attended. Jomo Kenyatta sent his son there as well
