🧵4/5 Disconnections in bilateral parietal regions are associated with lower hand temperature, while disconnections in a right lateralized thalamus-parietal hub correlate with thermoception deficits. 4/5

🧵3/5 Lesion mapping reveals associations in the right operculum and #insula, indicating that these regions are linked to lower skin #temperature. Deficits in #thermoception are associated with the same brain regions, but more anteriorly.

🧵2/5 Patients with right-brain damage and altered ownership for the left-hand exhibit lower basal hand temperatures bilaterally and impaired perception of cold and warm stimuli compared to right-brain damaged patients with and without hemiplegia and preserved ownership.

Cold hands, altered ownership? We link disturbed body ownership in stroke patients to reduced hand temperature and impaired thermoception. The right Insula & Parietal hubs are key players. We are excited to share our new findings
