From PRRI @prri.org

Most Americans oppose stripping US citizens of their citizenship and deporting them if they are determined to be a threat to the country.

However, support is much higher among Republicans, White Evangelicals, strong Christian Nationalists.

“Indigenous people make up 6 percent of the world's population, but their territory accounts for close to a quarter of the earth's land surface, containing more than a third of remaining natural lands worldwide, often in northern boreal and equatorial forests.”

Great to see a new edition of Divided by Faith (Oxford 2025).

I can still remember sitting in my office holding a copy of the original, sent to me as a gift from Michael Emerson.

The book inspired an idea that became my dissertation, which launched my scholarly career. Amazing to now be included!

Published 1965, ambitious and interdisciplinary discussion that attempts a general theory of aesthetics but strives for a more fundamental contribution.

Core claim — While humans demand order in everyday life, they also have a basic need to experience and experiment with chaos.

The agents asked no questions and showed no identification before taking one man away, whose wife and child were inside at the time…”

The Ebstorf Map — a mappa mundi, a medieval European T and O map of known world thru Christian lens.

Created btwn 1234 and 1240, an impressive 3.5 x 3.5 meters.

Good example of subordinating accuracy (here, geographic accuracy) to a Christian worldview.

Just finished and recommended.

Remarkable telling of Nazi efforts to destroy “Bolsheviks” and the intertwining of the Jewish fate on the Eastern Front.

Bold and vivid reporting, illuminating aspects of WWII I simply did not know.

All critiques of Schuller & others similar to his ethos often describe what even their own churches do: sustain people in familiar worldviews, adopt familiar or idealized roles, & constantly affirm each other that their way is the right way to live.

A charming volume, this chatty biography of Havelock Ellis, based on interviews and archival materials provided to the author by Ellis himself, was published in 1928.

“They can either persist in a futile attempt to prove their moderation, or they can lose the fear of such name-calling. If radicalism is the label that will be affixed to all resistance to Trump, why not embrace radicalism?
