these algorithms are tuned for emotional engagement. Shapiro knows that every appearance keeps him more likely to be recommended or shown to new people.

I think it's much more subtle than a direct correlation. This whole ecosystem of shitty people is an inferno that needs fuel constantly to be maintained. Even dunking on them keeps it primed.

Not directly, but it builds it up. Loomer, Cernovich, Shapiro, even Milo understand this game way better. If they're constantly being talked about they'll constantly be in the algorithm, and then people do become acolytes because they continually hear their bullshit

They will convert appearances on shows like this. Even terrible appearances where they look like idiots. They will convert to more followers and then more dollars. Embarrassment and being wrong don't even matter. Just get in front of eyeballs constantly.

Shapiro does have his own show but this is engagement. All these right wing provocateurs understand this better than Klein and other traditional media people. Shapiro and Kirk will debate anyone because they want to get in front of the most possible eyes!

Context is going to be stripped for the vast majority of people. They'll see headlines and hear clips based on which feed they're in.

But that also explains why platforming people like Shapiro and Kirk is counter productive! They'll get snips to use in the algorithm corner that makes them look good, and it further legitimizes them. This model works better 30 years ago in long form when everyone would just read it in their paper
