Wonderful resource, I've shared it a bunch.

I noticed a small factual error for the mayoral race of my home city, Syracuse. Outgoing Mayor Ben Walsh is an Independent not a Democrat (however he mostly governed like one and endorsed Dems - surprising since his dad+grandpa were both GOP congressmen!)

I listened to it the other day and it was pretty amazing. Best podcast episode of the year from any podcast I listen to.

We bring this up all the time on /r/fivethirtyeight, at least. It's an important example to push against just becoming "moderate" on culture war issues.

(I also found out about Anberlin around then through another very-2000s-games way: my favorite wii forum had a "Great Lyrics" post, and somebody recommended Alexithymia. Shoutout to boards.thewiire dot com)

Just found out about you from a repost of this, what a great episode!

And by coincidence I'm a huuuge Anberlin fan myself! I played Amped 1, but I didn't realize 3 had Paperthin Hymn in it. Kind of cool a song other than Feel Good Drag got highlighted.

Thanks for linking to that, that podcast was great!

Not a good chance but a chance, sure.

I'd prefer Golden would stay! I just don't think it's as apocalyptic as everyone else does.

One house member is also worth a 100/435 = 23% of a senator like Manchin. Or a third of that (7.7%) for a single house election for 2 years.

Skibidi toilet unironically made me feel like I understood the kids (a little) these days. Because it so transparently feels like youtube poop from 15 years ago.

Right. And while I would probably rate a race there even in a blue 2026 as tossup or tilt-R, it's not a foregone conclusion. It's a R+4 district and probably a fairly elastic one (elastic meaning vote total %s more with national environment than the average district).

Actually just realized that Mamadni margin will leave Sliwa with too few voters than polls show. Probably mamdani closer to 45% then.

The site gets a lot of criticism off site on its politics, but honestly if it weren't for that (and reactions to that on-site) I wouldn't have any negative vibes here to share.

He was an early voice for Biden to drop out, and that we were losing information on what a good 2024 candidate would be by skipping the primary - right on both counts.

(The question being: Does the economist claim Trump has a legal case or not?)
October 30, 2025 at 8:42 PM
For anyone who'd like a summary: Jeff couldn't answer the question and blocked me after accusing me twice of being MAGA/a fascist. Have a good one y'all.
October 30, 2025 at 8:40 PM
I'm just not letting you change the argument and narrative to one that suits you. Now yes or no, does the Economist claim Trump has a "legal case"?
October 30, 2025 at 8:37 PM
You can reply on other matters top level, but you responded to someone pushing back on the economist's specific claims.

The MAGA movement is allergic to facts like "What did he article I'm person responding to actually say" but nice try

Does or does not the economist claim "There is a legal case"?
October 30, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Does or does not the economist claim "There is a legal case"? We'll keep doing this until you answer yes or no.
October 30, 2025 at 8:26 PM
You've talked past me. Does or does not the economist claim "There is a legal case"?
October 30, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Keep in mind the context to which OP responded - what the economist claimed. There is not a *legal* case for this, which means analyzing the constitution in good faith.

That someone, in particular Alito or Gorsuch, might not analyze the constitution in good faith is not part of this discussion.

I do think there's generally suspicion in the data/poli science community whether this seems to be an issue with polling now in general, or a Trump specific polling problem.

With that said, even if the latter I do acknowledge this race has much more uncertainty than typical races.

I didn't say that but okay

Here's that frontend's results for platner's username: search.pullpush.io?author=p-hus...

Gotta love the use of the r-slur twice in the most recent comments. Great guy /s.
