Agree 💯 Repubs are the real menace. I'm fine with "catching". Some good points made by you. Learned some stuff today. I don't think it's that simple. Your theory doesn't explain the exodus of the working folks from the party though. I know that's not Bernie's fault.

All our fault, lol. I'm a progressive. I voted Bernie in the primary in '16 and '20. Then I did what most sensible people did when they lost. I supported the winner. Progressives aren't a monolith. All kinds of us out here.

Agreed, poor example to illustrate my point. Doesn't mean the establishment always gets it right.
October 26, 2025 at 7:01 PM
Good idea. He probably should have started there.
October 26, 2025 at 5:39 PM
I get that Platner was a poor example to try to make my point.
October 26, 2025 at 5:36 PM
I totally respect that.
October 26, 2025 at 3:36 PM
I respect that. Agree that Platner is probably the wrong hill to fight on. My broader point was about the establishment picking our candidates for us, or attempting to.
October 26, 2025 at 3:34 PM
I love black women and value their opinions. I wasn't aware they had come out against Platner. If more would have listened to black women we would have President Harris.
October 26, 2025 at 3:33 PM
I agree Platner is not a good example, but it does seem like often enough what the establishment considers a fucking viable progressive candidate doesn't really exist. Most progressives in Congress got there without much help from the party establishment.
October 26, 2025 at 3:25 PM
I will stand corrected if that stuff comes up. My point was that if he really held those beliefs there would be other evidence of it.
October 26, 2025 at 3:10 PM
So, I guess we should just sit back and wait for the party elders to tell us who to vote for.
October 26, 2025 at 3:07 PM
I guess we should just keep running corporate Dems, this has worked out so well for us.
October 26, 2025 at 3:01 PM
Sue, I agree that Platner is not a great example. But I still feel like the voters are smart enough to make that decision.
October 26, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Would you admit that Bernie was on the right track all along (healthcare, tax the rich)and that if establishment Dems would have supported him more after seeing the enthusiasm he was generating we would probably not be in a 2nd Trump term? Maybe the working class wouldn't have left us in droves?
October 26, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Fair enough, I agree I could have chosen a better example than Platner. After hearing him speak on it, I really don't believe he is a racist, or a Nazi but I totally get why people WOULD think that, and why that makes him a flawed candidate. Just tired of the machine picking candidates for us.
October 26, 2025 at 2:50 PM
Please, continue with your assumptions about me!
October 26, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Has nothing to do with him being a white male. I'm sick of litmus tests, let's be a big tent party.
October 26, 2025 at 2:39 PM
Gee Sue, ya got me! You're right! All I care about is "white male who says things I like". I was just trying to make a point about how it seems our party establishment always takes out the younger, more progressive candidates. They did it to Mamdani, but he's just too popular. McMorrow too!
October 26, 2025 at 2:39 PM
Ok, so let the people choose. Would you agree that the Dem establishment has a history of thumbing the scales for their preferred primary candidates? I feel like this is a valid perception going back to the Bernie days. Platner is admittedly a flawed example, but that is the point I'm getting at.
October 26, 2025 at 2:15 PM
Where are all the pro Nazi or racist or antisemitic posts from Platner? They found a lot of old comments but none like that. I've heard him speak, he is no Nazi sympathizer. He made an unfortunate choice of tattoo as a drunk soldier on leave in Croatia in 2007.
October 26, 2025 at 1:57 PM
I agree but there's vetting, then there is running opposition research to take out the non-preferred candidate. I'm just getting tired of the establishment wing picking our candidates for us.
October 26, 2025 at 1:34 PM
I think the party should let the people pick a candidate, then fully back that candidate AFTER the primary. We're getting tired of being told who to support, and of watching the party go after our own.
October 26, 2025 at 12:37 PM
...and voters too!
