With 2024 in the rear view mirror, its time for a few recaps. First up, going through what I wrote this past year on @askhistorians.bsky.social. It wasn't my most productive year, but I think I wrote some good stuff! So, in no particular order although perhaps with a few favorites near the front...

Many, many sources seem to cite 1,158 US halftracks sent to the USSR via Lend-Lease. But US government records point to it being 824.
I think that 30 years ago Zaloga made a mistake, and everyone keeps citing him and that is the most common one on the internet!

Seeing a lot of mentions of Horst Wessel today, but folks are sleeping on Ernst vom Rath as the analogy of the hour.
Trump: "For years those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism we're seeing in our country & it must stop right now. My admin will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity"

Just a general reminder for people that you don't need to say nice things about shitty people just because they died. In fact, shutting the fuck up is an option too!

MRO's journey continues...
just the weirdest mix of open Neo-Nazi accounts celebrating the anniversary of Leo Frank’s lynching by watching Birth of a Nation & then other accounts treating his lynching as a rejection of racism by the KKK? and then some that unapologetically equate Jewishness with lying and child abuse.

Many history questions are inspired by current events. Recent spats between world leaders inspired @georgy-k-zhukov.bsky.social to write about Russian general Georgy Zhukov, and his relationships with Soviet leadership.
Georgy_K_Zhukov's comment on "Today's feud between President Trump and Elon Musk highlighting the news is certainly unique. Have there been any other highly publicized "break-ups" between world leaders and their advisors?"
