This was surprising to me. I know that our diet can affect so many different aspects of our health, including our mental health, but I didn't know about choline and the role its deficiency plays in anxiety disorders.

The original study, states that "There was a statistically significant association between higher intakes of canola, soybean, and olive oils and lower total mortality." You might be mistrustful of seed oils, but at least two of them help you live longer.

Come on, seed oils aren't that bad. They require solvents for their extraction, which makes people worry about traces. I prefer olive oil for cooking, but have no issues with seed oils in some of the products I buy, as long as they're not hydrogenated.

This one sounds like a fad diet. Yet, here's more evidence of the benefits of eating fresh foods over processed foods, especially when high in fiber: better gut health, lower cholesterol levels and increased insulin sensitivity.

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

It annoys me that they describe a diet high in fat and sugar and low in fresh ingredients as a "Western diet." I see that pattern in many poor regions where people cannot afford fresh foods. Regardless, the results of this study are very alarming.
