BBC climate and science correspondent. I wrote a PhD now I write news. Covering space, earth and our oceans. Got a story? Email Georgina.rannard@bbc.co.uk
An organisation called Science Media Centre quickfires comments from experts in response to news events. A snapshot of what I got today:

Scientists at Oxford university have engineered a yeast that can produce a honeybee "superfood" that could protect bees against climate change and habitat loss

If you couldn't study science at school, or the teaching was bad, don't worry, you could still become a leading scientist and even an Astronomer Royal.

The ICJ has released its long-awaited climate opinion and lawyers say it goes far further than expected.
It could open the door to climate vulnerable states suing richer nations over historic emissions.

Great work highlighting these remarkable sea temperatures in the Mediterranean
Parts of the Mediterranean Sea reached 30C this week, much earlier than usual, raising fears for marine life.

For some areas, this is 6 or 7C warmer than usual at this time of year.

A tiny, obscure animal often sold as aquarium food has been quietly protecting our planet from global warming by undertaking an epic migration. My write-up of new research here www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Pretty exciting - Vera Rubin reveals in its press conference that the telescope detected 2,104 new asteroids and 7 space objects close to Earth.
For context, all other space and ground surveys combined usually find about 20,000 asteroids in a year.

An intense marine heatwave has developed in the UK and Ireland - with anomalies of 5C found in at least one area.

The impacts probably aren't as severe as it would be in summer, but it's a worrying sign of what is likely to happen more often as climate change continues to warm our oceans.

England had the driest spring since 1961 - leaving rivers exceptionally low in much of the UK - some had record lows for April

The beating heart of our planet is its core - without it, we would in all likelihood be a dead planet.
Scientists trying to understanding if it slowed down around 2010 were surprised to discover that its inner core has changed shape.
