The actual boards and stacking pieces would be walnut? Maybe Cherry for the chips? I wouldn’t be staining everything.

The pieces all seem large and heavy enough not to fly off the board when rotating.

Still need to stamp some circles in a 3x3 grid for accurate chip placement and thinking about having the rules printed on fabric.

I finally figured out how to do a “Medieval” version of Toppa. I’ve wanted to table at some Renn fairies in the future but bringing 3d and modern box printing didn’t seem appropriate. Rules stay the same, runes replacing the different color chips. #tabletopgames #gamedesign

Sometimes you get lucky and it's a good grouping of dots and easy to get single digits. Today was not one of those days, lol.

I’m pretty basic with how I think about my 3d designs. Mostly extruding flat layers into 3d. Part of that is how I get things to look 3d with only a one color printer but it’s also just how my brain works after 5 years of making things with a laser cutter, lol.

Working on a playing card version of Toppa (possibly).
I like the idea of offering a low cost alternative but also wouldn't want to cannibalize the small amount of game sales I do have for the board versions. #cardgame #gamedesign #tabletop

Not entirely glue-less unfortunately. The top and bottom panels still need to be glued in to stay but I will fix that eventually.

Progress on the new matching card game. Still thinking on names. I like "ICON: A Game of Pairs" but I think there's a game named Icon already? I could go with just "A Game of Pairs" maybe? Names are hard, lol.

Digging the UNO color vibe though! #gamedesign #tabletop

I can get 28 Toppa boards from 1 full spool of PLA on my Bambu A1 Mini. About 35g each. I could probably make the walls a bit thinner but I like that it feels solid & 14 sets of boards from a single spool is good enough for me! #3dprinting #tabletopgames #gamedesign

Toppa takes about 7-8 hours to print a full game.
Block Market takes about 9-10 hours for a game (it's got the most pieces & 7 colors!
Gravity Well is the fastest, it only takes about 5 hours.

Hopefully if I sell some games I'll buy a 2nd Bambu Mini & double my production! lol.

This is what about 2 weeks of off & on printing looks like when you only have a single Bambu A1 Mini (plus a few prototypes game boards). #tabletop #games #3dprinting

I have a few of each game available on my Etsy shop w/free shipping in the U.S.

I reworked my Block Market game so instead of printing a set of 24 paper "Investment Cards" for each game I'm 3d printing my own "Tiles" that will do the same thing as the cards.

Adds a LOT to the print time but fits the theme so much better & I kind of love it all looks. #tabletop #gamedesign

Reworked my packaging yet again to a less costly plastic box. I really like being able to actually see game pieces/boards inside.

I can now sell games for $20 at shows & $29 with free shipping online. A price point I honestly never thought I'd hit!

Love how your mind works on things behind your back. Set aside vague concept months ago as I worked on finishing other games.

Back to it the other day & pretty much knew what it needed to be.

Also, if only 1 board in game do you prefer grey or purple?

Added Block Market to my shop. This is my 3rd game, along with Toppa & Gravity Well that were started over the covid pandemic. Great to see all 3 completed & available. Time to start the next round of Toppa Games, I may have a couple concepts brewing. #boardgames #tabletop #gamedesign

Spent today adding a couple new STL 3D files to my Etsy shop. These are only a few bucks each but I think I’m going to try listing some small stuff I’ve designed that I don’t mind selling for a dollar or so. See if that brings in more eyes. #3dprinting #etsy

Somehow I always end up back at the beginning. When I first created Toppa I made it myself on my laser cutter. Now after a lot of experimenting with different packaging solutions for the 3d printed version I'm back to making my own boxes on my laser cutter. #tabletop #boardgames

I’m really pleased with this 2 piece stackable, snap-together checker design I made. Specifically for Toppa but I’m sure I’ll be using them in future games as well. #3dprinting #boardgames

Except for the color chips this is all “wood Filament”. I doubt there’s a ton of wood in it but it does give a more rough, matte finish to things.

This is the fully 3d printed version of my Toppa game. I like it! Still not as much as the real wood version but it’s about 40% of the cost to make. Still takes about 7 hours to print a complete set of all the pieces (2 boards, 24 checkers, 18 chips).
