Haven’t played TOV but I enjoyed Donnerschlag from the same publisher and have my eye on their other, Eastern Front Traces games. Really like VUCA Sims ethos, production values and the historical context in their rulebooks.

Further anecdata, and possibly not the most reliable proxy for the entire hobby, but some of my earliest gaming memories are the letters page of White Dwarf melting down discussing women in gaming. The impression was of a very male environment.

Having spent nearly thirty years in books and publishing, I think many readers underestimate how hard it is to spot errors in any long form text—let alone something where one is checking for rules/playability as well as as language/style.

I often feel like that after a long day in a small office. Besides the cognitive load, ventilation can really make a difference—I got a little CO₂ monitor after seeing them in the meeting rooms at a client, and it’s remarkable how quickly levels build up. 1200ppm+ = fatigue and impaired decisions.

This dynamic is one of the things I find challenging and rewarding about being an independent consultant: every client is different, and there's a process of learning the organisation and context, generally against much greater time pressure than @profserious.bsky.social's example.

—the plot and characterisation don’t bear much examination—but the vibes are le Carré x Monocle: loyalty, conspiracy, bursts of violence, and clothes and interiors to die for. Really, it’s the Blanchett and Fassbender show, and they play their parts beautifully.
