The other important option for deficit/debt reduction is noninflationary economic growth creating a larger income tax base. That goal is being hurt by both deportation and tariffs, as our national economy is dependent on migrant labor and global (relatively) free trade. /5

And what if each cabinet billionaire annually paid a percent of net worth as a supplemental donation to the US (if calling it a tax would be triggering!?). This would give them "skin in the game" they seemingly now lack, as evidenced by musk-DOGE callousness and irrationality. /4

The obvious alternative to cutting spending for budgeters (household, organizational, or governmental) is to pursue additional income that will help sustain needed spending. /2

Cutting spending isn't the only‐‐and likely not the best‐‐way to cut deficits and debt (a goal with which most agree)! I follow quite a lot of news sources, from mainstream media to podcasts and social media, and notice the following point is being made only rarely. /1
