You're correct. The issue here is that the final house is fine and people like it and play it a lot. So the end quality really isn't at issue here.

Or just make the comment. Maybe knock off half a star for it. That seems fair (not really but I concede reasonable ground). A 40% when the game is clearly great and everyone likes it? At that point you probably should not review games. Or should review different games.

Dave I think it's basically here. Convoluted settings options as always on these things! Gotta dig.

Turn it off. Easy. I did weeks ago.

Well nonsense activism before merit reviews like this work to belong down the aggregate Metacritic scores right? Is that fair or right? I guess that's the debate. In any case it's done. He called out what he disliked and I did the same! ;)

Devs should always make what they want to make, but I don't really like cooperation in an online shooter as more than an occasional option. It's why I bounced off of Apex.

No I wouldn't because the end product is all that matters and the future is what it is. The whole stolen assets thing isn't going to hold up in the end. We shall see but generally everything is a remix and there's lots of nuance all over the place but ppl don't consider beyond one talking point.

My bad on the reply. You're falling for AI Doomerism here re: lost jobs and all of that. New tech always creates more jobs than it takes.

OK, so you can have feelings about AI as a tool in games. But it's not really going to stop. Main issue is that you can comment about that in the review. Fair. But dinging a clearly quality, high scoring game, with a 40% is basically using the review platform as social commentary. Incompetent.

Tom the artistry is still there and always be. You have to curate and edit work any generative output. You still make creative decisions. And no, how you build the house and what tools you use should not be reflected in the price/sale/score of the house. How do you think this looks in 10 years?
November 11, 2025 at 8:10 AM
Review the game based on it's merits, not your op-ed style thoughts about how it was made. You can mention those thoughts in the review but only the final quality of the product should be reflected in the score. Giving Arc a 40% is gross negligence of the job you had to do.
