A lot of it is exaggerated by the far right to stir up hatred - Britain, like pretty much every European country, is far safer than it was thirty years ago.
The UK is pretty run-down, dysfunctional and hateful, though.

And you can just hop on a flight there and find a job; seems way more appealing than fighting the nasty home office bureaucracy a "youth movement scheme" would inevitably entail.

Ireland is a more welcoming option.
