Kicking billionaire ass wherever possible
You have the actual numbers - but I think the team line is that he was helpful on their PK.

And I'm not sure how much Sasson or Kampf are improvements.

They've also tried a couple of other guys there - but none of them have been able to score.

That said, if EP40 was tearing it up and they were losing I'd put more stock in injuries being the problem. But he's not.S

Still the lack of scoring from the C position is pretty stark.

The guy above him on your chart - Bluegers is also a C and also out. And the depth below those 'only OK' guys is not good either.

In the game last night the Canucks C were:

Kämpf - signed midway through the season
Räty - started season as 4th line C
Sasson - started in the AHL
O’Connor - winger 1/

Also Demko has been out a lot.

But if you can ice a first line and top pairing and none are producing at historical rates - there's probably something up with the coaching.

Whole team is getting rolled in GA. PK fell off a cliff. EP40 is down on scoring. M Pettersson a penalty taking machine.

But they still control the system, and with all future projects paused are just waiting for a new bottle neck to drive prices up.

If this sounds like a batshit crazy way to manage infrastructure it is.

But that’s been the way we’ve run housing infrastructure in Canada for the last 30 years. 8/

It water projects are still coming online but futures one stop. People cheer, ready to see water become affordable again but water sellers preach Armageddon. They keep
Prices high, hoping the centres come back.

Eventually, slowly prices start coming down as sellers have no other options. 7/

People are in dire straights. Most people struggle to get by but the numbers dying of thirst and dehydration spike. Whole lakes and beachfronts are lost to data centres.

Then a funny thing happens: low interest rates, which were fueling a data centre bubble, spike. The hot money moves. 6/

Advocates are clamouring: we’ve got to get off of private control and back to government control. But the water sellers push back. They now
have MPs and MPPs in their pocket. Some of them are water sellers themselves.

They say we need better zoning: just allow us to build bigger and faster. 5/

All of a sudden they’re not building for home end users anymore, they’re building for big data centres. There’s lots of water infrastructure being built, but it’s not going to homes. 4/
December 8, 2025 at 9:54 PM
Then; in the 90s, there was a glut. Lots of cheap water everywhere. Government decides to privatize the system.

Things stay more or less the same until 2010: that’s when the data centres come in. 3/

Years ago we used to build our hypothetical water system to ensure that it was paid for through taxes, and that everyone could get water from the tap. Though you could always pay more for more expensive: bottled gallons of spring, sparkling, crates of bottled water, etc. 2/

Don’t think “people” are obsessed. But IMHO “media people” tend to write about what they know and what they engage with.

Sort of like how Hollywood makes a ridiculous amount of movies about people that make movies.

Both Raty and Karlsson have been top 20 (non ELC) in cost per point. Real good value from both.

Excellent entry into the Stanchies canon.
December 7, 2025 at 8:55 PM
I still contend that the team wouldn’t need a full tear down and the bigger reality is that they probably can’t…too many good players with NMCs.

Ironically I think these Canucks actually ‘could’ turn around in a hurry.

But I think the current management batch have f’d up too many times to stay 2/
December 7, 2025 at 8:24 PM
While a fun hypothetical exercise the answer to this question was that the Nux doled out 3 NMC contracts worth $23M a season in the offseason to add to their other 6 NMCs and 3 P-NTCs.

They’ve painted themselves into a corner. Failed miserably. 1/

For those that track such things , Karlsson is currently 14th on the cost per point list (non ELCs). He’s been top 5 at points this season.

Always had a soft spot for the Ghost of Alex Burrows and have loved following the twists and turns of Karlsson vs Dahlen.

Canucks back up goalie situation is,
I feel, I microcosm of management issues.

First they hand the keys to Martin, who flails. Then they successfully target 2 cheap backups in late UFA season. Then they inexplicably sign one to a monster deal, trading their hot young goalie who’s flourishing.
