Seismologist, volcanologist, professor, and hazards junkie. Soapbox stander. Opinions are my own but I'm happy to share. She/her.
I had a similar situation in 4th grade. I chose Czechoslovakia.

Kind of a bummer that I can't use that one much anymore.

Given the option, though, I'd take Titan any day, even knowing we had to go through that.

Things were also hard because we had also just gotten a puppy who wanted to play and for months Titan wasn't allowed. He SO wanted to walk and play and run and was so sad that he wasn't allowed. Honestly, it was miserable for everyone.

While I agree that it shouldn't be a reason not to adopt, our experience with HW was *really* different. Titan was in severe pain following his shots, to the point that I couldn't wake him the following day and they had to give him a fentanyl patch. It was agonizing.

Agreed on all counts. I got one the other day that expressed enthusiasm for two of my papers. One was from 2006 and I'm last author. The other was recent but again, not primarily my work.

Can you even send a mass email? Other than typing then in one at a time, I don't know how to reach them all unless it's through Canvas.

But yes, fully agree on the dangers of being reliant on off-site, private companies to serve our data.

Ack! Not only do I respond to those who seem genuine and interested in my research, I tell my students they should do this. Why are people opposed to prospective students reaching out? How else do they learn about opportunities?

Help me to not lead my students astray, please!

I'll take it as a positive that there were so many people that we couldn't t see everyone!
