Finally a good coastal walk on a Saturday since moving house. This beats DIY for sure! Croyde Bay towards Baggy Point. #northdevon #devon #walking

A local 3.9 mile walk today (quite warm!) In the vicinity of the River Taw. Think a black-headed gull with its winter plumage was spotted. #walking

Instow, North Devon. An August sunset. #devon

Torrington Commons and Rolle Canal walk. It’s wonderful to have 365 acres of common land and 20 miles of footpaths to explore in beautiful North Devon. I’ve got plenty for routes and views to see in this area still so I will be planning some autumnal walks. #walking #devon #walks

Beautiful place to stop at Potter Heigham Bridge looking over the River Thurne, Norfolk. #walking #norfolk

Great Yarmouth Minster in the August sunshine. I probably would have got a better photo from the opposite side thinking about it!

Walking around one of my favourite places today - Lynmouth, along the East Lyn towards Watersmeet. #walking #Devon

No walking today due to the weather (windy and raining). However, I’m dipping into Robert Macfarlane’s The Old Ways, an excellent collection of mediations on walking ancient tracks, paths and routes, including on land and on water. #walking #reading #books

Saturday walk through Fremington, Fremington Quay and along the Tarka Trail to Barnstaple. Couldn’t get a good photo but I think this is a Meadow Brown butterfly resting on the ragwort. #walking #devon

Today’s walk was around Torquay in sunshine and showers. Including some great coastal views from the train. #walking #devon

Walk along Exeter Quay and River Exe today. Plus a Red Admiral on the train home! #walking #devon #exeter

Two walks today. Both around Barnstaple. Morning in Rock Park, afternoon through Sticklepath and Anchor Woods. #walking #Devon

Yesterday, exploring the South West Coast Path near Appledore. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a concentration of spiders web’s in one place! #walking #devon #swcp #hiking

Having been reading about lost temperate rainforests in Britain, I’ve been looking to see fragments in my part of North Devon. Tutshill Woods near Barnstaple came up on a map of lost rainforests. Came across Polytrichum commune (Common Haircap Moss) (I think?) when walking today. Does this count?

A walk along Westward Ho! Beach this morning before it gets too hot. Sand ripples as the tide goes out. #walking

Came across the Dripping Well at Anchor Woods in Barnstaple while out walking today. Somewhat hidden away, a slight trickle on this scorcher of a day. Apparently its Victorian stone arch dates back to the 1860s. #walking

On a rainy day in Devon, I’ve been delving into this superb book by @guyshrubsole.bsky.social. It’s got me rethinking my walks into Devon’s woodland landscapes and a desire to get my walking boots on and explore more!

Easter holidays is the best of the school holidays in my opinion. Especially when the weather is like this. Morning walk along the Taw estuary towards Braunton. Lots of (noisy) oystercatchers, some curlews and plover en route. I need a better camera to capture photos of the wildlife! #Devon

Spent a few days in Belfast and came across the Botanic Gardens. The Victorian glasshouse was so tranquil and sublime in its own right.

Always enjoy a visit to the Eden Project. Having visits and days out planned for most winter and spring weekends is a real motivator for me!
