A great couple of days at this Royal Society event on Antarctica.

-Antarctica keeps surprising us
-We impact Antarctica and Antarctica impacts us
-Some changes are already underway but we still have a lot of agency, every .1 of a degree matters!

2025 was actually tracking above 2024 & 2022 within the last month, and other years further back.It was still marginally above 2022 three days ago. In comparison to other years it took a sharp dive in early February and reached its minimum on 1st March, when recovery would have often already begun.

Monitoring sea ice in Antarctica is really grim. In recent days sea ice extent has dropped below last year, and yesterday was only higher than the record-low year of 2023.
