You're not wrong. I haven't been paying attention to the trade deadline live this year, other than what the guys talk about in the Discord server, and have just been going to The Athletic's grades round-up since everything I need is there.

Logan Brown is just on waivers because he was on an AHL Contract and signed to an NHL deal for depth. But on Atkinson... correct. Philly friend told me beginning of the year he looked cooked last year, and that played out.

Yeah, I've been resisting that, but you're probably right.

I've been pulling AHL, OHL, and WHL data together. Wanted to dip my toe into trying some kind of modeling. Immediately felt in completely over my head lol.

Also, that 23 year old 3rd round pick that's still in the AHL and only has one cup of coffee in the NHL? Definitely worth the equivalent of a top 5 draft pick.

I wish I was better at math.

Another model I saw today was pointing strongly to LAK at least in part because of their strong home record and VGK being around .500 on the road.

My roommate uses "That's rough, buddy" fairly often, and I started picking up on using it without knowing where it came from, until someone responded to me with "Did you just quote Avatar?" Then I found out about the reference lol

If it's Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, then it's just a surgery to remove the rib, blood thinners, and time to let the blood clot break up. There's been a few hockey players that have gone through this.

If it's Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, then that's a fixable issue.
February 20, 2025 at 7:22 PM
If it's the same thing (not sure it is, but it sounds like it might be), I know of multiple hockey players that had a blood clot issue that was caused by a bone pinching a blood vessel going into the arm. Surgery, blood thinners, time, and they were fine.

Yeah, it can be tough. I thought there would be more Finn defensemen out there when I went digging around in the hypothetical "who could they have called up?" And really the only big name that stuck out was Sami Vatanen, and even though he's not what he was, would think they'd rather have had him.

The unfortunate problem of it only being NHL players. If they could have pulled from Euro leagues, the smaller countries would have more access to depth, especially veteran depth that might fit in better dropping into a tournament.

It's the little things that turn me off for it. Like... if the whole point and purpose of this tournament is to generate revenue and increase HRR... why did we decide to throw away a game and not have a 3rd place game? Why didn't we schedule this as a Saturday doubleheader in Boston?

Depending on how wild you want to get, have you ever read about that little town that Libertarians moved to to take over and then things went about as you'd expect of a small town run by Libertarians?

The Town That Went Feral
When a group of libertarians set about scrapping their local government, chaos descended. And then the bears moved in.

On the other hand, Sheary has been the best forward in Syracuse since he was sent down and is currently the 2nd leading scorer on the Crunch. Sure, Duke's an option with more goals and less points, but he's still developing. Jesse Ylonen is next. Then Huuhtanen.
