I saw an honest to god UFO tonight. Around 10:45 PM near Carp, Ontario. No idea what it was. Maybe Perseids? Never seen a meteor move like that though Initially thought it was the ISS but the ISS was over Africa. Anyone else see this? Any ideas what it was?

Happy 13th birthday to this old guy. He's a lot slower and greyer but still brings us joy and slippers every day. We love you, Monti.

I'm teaching a Climate Fiction writing class this spring with the Alexandra Writer's Centre. If you want to explore the climate crisis in your fiction, join me online for 8 weeks starting in April. We'll laugh, we'll cry, we'll have communal existential crises, and we'll write greenhouse gas jokes.

If you've already had your daily dose of caffeine, I highly recommend this chicory drink to enjoy with a good book on a chilly November afternoon. It goes especially well with the title story of Zebra Meridian!

The inspiration for "Desolation Sounds", a climate fiction horror story in my collection Zebra Meridian, was this boat, spotted in Squirrel Cove, Cortes Island, British Columbia. Either it's still there or it was never seen again.
