"But my religion says"
does your book say "nuke the non-followers"?
I've read many religious texts.
They all agree on one concept.

give that choice to a higher power.

What higher power have you truly experienced than yourself?

You and you alone know the difference between right and wrong. If you're muddled against what's common social norms. EVERY LIVING BEING, deserves to live. Acceptance of your peers or neighbor. #norms

people in #AA typically describe an alcoholic as someone who can not stop themselves from getting their next drink. I for example was 6 days sober recently because "I choose" to be sober. #AA surrounds itself with people who believe they can not make the choice to be sober. And must

The individual does not need to have a "I could go to jail for" story contributing to how they got a 'fix'.

I'm what "Traditional" people would call a high functioning (I call high masking) Autistic person.

I've spent years looking at ya'll and it makes me want to drink as a coping skill.

If you attend enough #AA meetings you'll find those that there's unwritten rules to being a #realalcoholic. I call bullshit. Anyone neurodiverget or neurotypical deserves validation of their struggle to stop using substances that are contributing to a lack of lifestyle health.

I've never lost the roof over my head so I could get a fix. My autistic adhd brain has NEVER, made the choices that so many of the people who attend these "Anonymous" meetings have made to "fit in."

I'm a rare breed, I've been choosing to drink (according to the "real" alcoholics) this whole time

I used alcohol as a way to wind down, and relax to a point where I'm old and have drank all the money I could have saved to have a retirement.

I've never stolen from a friend to purchase alcohol. I've never siphoned gas from a strangers car so I could spend my gas money on beer.

Do I use alcohol? ... absolutely yes. I used "drinking after work" for years to make friends with co-workers.

I used alcohol to deal with my CPTSD about making small talk and fearing someone correcting my ideals or political view with physically abuse for decades.
