No matter what happens to you today don’t forget that once again you get to enjoy what Bill Bryson in his book, “A Short History of Nearly Everything”, called the “supremely agreeable but generally underappreciated state known as existence.”

If you haven’t been to South Swell Ice Cream in Laguna Beach, California, well, you’re just letting the best things in life pass you by. It’s the bomb.

This one is a vanilla ice cream bar dipped in chocolate then rolled in crushed graham cracker. It’s as good as that sounds.

When you’re a child you go to birthday parties.

When you’re an adult you go to weddings.

And when you get old you go to funerals.

These are simply waypoints on the road of life.

Never to be squandered, the miracle of another human being.

In George Orwell’s book, “1984”, he said that, “Truth is treason in an empire of lies.”

I would add that wisdom is your best defense against such an empire.

I ordered this very cool (in a geeky sort of way) tee-shirt from teeory.co. When it was lost in transit, they stepped up and did the right thing by sending out a new one but they then went the extra mile and refunded my purchase. That’s amazing customer service. I’ll be ordering again.

Turns out beavers are critical to our North American ecosystem. Good thing we figured it out before driving them to extinction. This video is worth 10 minutes of your time. youtu.be/OkDVD20lOPQ?...

The Trump administration’s “deal” with Nvidia and AMD to take 15% of their sales to China is very clearly unconstitutional. Article 1, Section 9, of the U.S. Constitution, otherwise known as “the export clause,” states plainly that “No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State.”

Tim Cook has now been Apple’s CEO longer than Steve Jobs was. That’s quite a milestone.

Today my good friend Michael Scheffe and I met with Texas State Representative James Talarico. He’s that rarest of things in politics these days: a true public servant. Look him up on social media. His speeches are inspiring and I wish him success in his political career.

Today I checked my mailbox to find 22 pieces of mail 19 of which were junk. That’s 86% junk mail. I’ll bet I’m typical. Imagine the waste of energy that goes into producing and mailing all of that? That would be a good problem to solve.

What does it take to succeed at just about anything? Here's my take on that.
What does it really take to succeed?
It takes far more than determination to get what we want.

Remember that forgiveness isn’t for the forgiven. It allows you, the forgiver, to put down the emotional baggage you’re carrying around on their behalf. It’s not approval of the forgiven’s behavior. It allows you to move on.

My thoughts on the two women I think of most on Mother’s Day.
On This Mother’s Day
Many of my friends are, like me, now old enough that they have lost their mother, a fact that is even more top of mind today of all days.

Are some things truly meant to be? In my latest post I suggest that science has an answer to that question.
Was it truly meant to be?
Science most likely can provide us with a definitive answer

Memory is such an interesting thing. I was just looking at my kindergarten class picture, a photo taken 56 years ago, and yet I’m surprised by how many of the names I can remember. A picture of something we haven’t thought about in decades can locate nearly forgotten memories.

Oh how I wish we had a President as fit as the Prime Minster of Singapore who is clearly intelligent and is an eloquent speaker in English which is not his native language.

Trump isn’t particularly intelligent and speaks at a 4th grade level.
