Reform are ahead in the polls

But Farage has been leader of right wing parties on and off since 2006

Nearly 20 years

@zackpolanski.bsky.social has supercharged the left in only 6 weeks

I don't think it'll be too long before Green catch up

"Creativity is just connecting things"

I connected Anne Lamott's Bird By Bird, with the angel and devil on Homer's shoulder to create the Choosable logo

Choosable is an app I'm working that un-hides the hidden value of everyday choices

Like walking instead of driving, or buying from local shops

"Unfortunately, the clock is ticking, the hours are going by. The past increases, the future recedes. Possibilities decreasing, regrets mounting."

That's a line from the main guy in Dance Dance Dance by Murakami

In context it's said tongue in cheek, but still a good reminder for not wasting time

Is there a left / inequality movement happening against the far right?

Lead by @zackpolanski.bsky.social and @garyseconomics.bsky.social

Or is it just the algorithms showing me what I want to see... ?

The news has been so stressful recently 🤬😵‍💫🤯😡

And outrage is addictive

So I'm rebalancing:

1. Deleting news apps—no more micro dosing of negativity

2. Subscribing to @positivenews.bsky.social for a good news antidote

3. Shouting out people who are spreading magic www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...

New years resolutions:

Never say Tronald Dump's real name.

Never click on anything with his face on, attention is his lifeblood.

If I get clickbaited in a moment of weakness, share some Obama awesomeness to rebalance. Presidential cleansing.

Posting links on Bluesky vs X

@bsky.app doesn't hate it

@hankgreen.bsky.social proved it www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4gh...

I used to design websites and hated when clients made me force people to open external links in a new tab

"We don't want people to leave"

Some people have a social media addiction

I'm the opposite

Trying to make social media part of my day

Trouble is, I very much dislike most social media platforms

Bluesky might just be a nice enough place to spend a little time each day

Thinking about jobs
Since I was born, the planet has invented 6 billion jobs. Technology is said to threaten the replacement of human labor, yet, somehow we've found useful activities for a rapidly growing population. Coordinated without a coordinator, people go to work each day, often doing something that's only vaguely related to their own sustenance. We show up and create value for strangers we might never meet.

I'm so into this...

Pedestrianising cities and turning parking lots into gardens

Well done Paris

www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Seems like an opportunity to build tiny forests!

Paris to Replace Parking Spaces With Trees
The city’s new climate plan promises to drop speed limits, repurpose traffic lanes, remove 60,000 parking spots and create urban “oases” to combat extreme heat.

So now we have partisan social networks?

X = right wing
Bluesky = left wing

Whilst I like Bluesky and don't like using X, more "us and them" isn't healthy

If they like coffee and we like tea, maybe we can agree on the biscuits.

(as long as we agree on Hobnobs)

My gosh what a sad book

So far

I'm about half way through The Salt Path by Raynor Winn

Shows homelessness can creep up on anyone

Sobering

With moments of magic like Moth's impromptu public reading, making a few quid for a pasty

Appreciate your pasty, and your warm house

be nice to all people

My new favourite fitness measurement to work on…

VO2 max

I’m a gnome painter not a doctor, so please correct me if I’m wrong but…

I heard VO2 max is a fairly direct indicator of lifespan

And I’ve just realised Apple Watch estimates VO2 max!

How accurate is it?

I never knew how much I wanted a 15 meter long piece of paper until Amazon sent me this.

It came with my order. For free!

How do they know what we want before we do? Amazing.
