I quit part way through too. To me it seems to be shaping the elements to support an underlying idea, rather than showing how the elements led to the idea. Ultimately I just lost interest.

I don’t disagree on the point on Duke… but again, if they’d defined it as that it would have been fine. Greg Spawton of Big Big Train wrote a piece on it.

If I’m honest, I picked up this newly published special edition of Uncut magazine both with interest and a degree of self-interest.

So I’d say : Buyer Beware! The most recent album in the entire like is Genesis - Duke from 1980. To suggest that prog rock ended in 1980 is crazy. If they’d even subtitled it or explained in the editorial what the selection was based on, that would have helped. Instead it just seems like cash grab

Selfie Goals before we even know what a selfie was. Taken with a real camera when I realised the guy flicking thru CDs beside me in Borders on Tottenham Court Road was David St Hubbins

Any particular reason why not? To me it’s all just new ways to hear stuff. The originals are all still there so why should the existence of an Atmos mix be an issue?

I agree. However whether I’ve listened to them all ….

Also … on a number of occasions I’ve gone for download/ iTunes versions over the box. Springsteen’s Tracks 2 and some of the larger Dylan bootleg series are ones where I’ve decided that I just need the music, and can skip to books. Typically they cost 20% of the physical product to me that works

The Neil Young Archive model has a lot of merit. Subscription based with a very low cost entry point, and add ons depending on how deep you want to go.

Yes I totally get that. The album, selected outtakes and some contemporary live material (audio and a video if you have one) are really what’s needed. Yes did that but added a vinyl album into the package which again I feel wasn’t needed.

Crimson surely are at least on a par. Maybe Tull win on economy?

For people who have always thought … Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door is way too short … buy this album for a 17 minute long version. Alternatively I believe Melatonin achieves the same end.

Too late for sure but they’re £30 direct from Frontiers frontiers.shop/collections/.... It’s a great album and the live Blu Ray is worth checking out too albeit it doesn’t contain the new songs.

It’s the paperback in decent condition and it was £7 which I was happy with.
