I sincerely hope people in this situation can get their lives put together but till they do, they need to leave others alone. Their not partner material yet and will just pull another person down.

Once had a guy approach me on the DC metro asking for money because he'd just been released from jail and didn't have a job. He then asked for my number. I told him no and he said, 'Because you have a boyfriend?" I humored him because I didn't know if he was dangerous but seriously?! Come on man!

I feel this. Trying to get settled somewhere now so I don't end up doing the same thing to my daughter.

Wow, that sounds so much like my dad. I feel for her.

Also, having a kid doesn't mean she has to like everyone else's kids. She will love her kid. She doesn't have to even like someone else's.

The rim trail isnt exactly wilderness anymore (unfortunately). It's never that far from the bus line. But sharing your itinerary is a good safety precaution no matter where you're traveling. I even did it when I went to Quebec City. Someone knew when I was supposed to get back and my flight number.

As a note, when traveling alone make sure someone you trust has your itinerary or knows to expect check-ins from you. That way, if something goes wrong and you don't check in or make your flight, someone knows to call the authorities. It could save your life.

Years ago I went on a cross-country, solo trip to the Grand Canyon. I met my dad in Phoenix for lunch before hand and he asked me how I got my husband to LET me go alone... My asnwer, "I told him I was going." Only thing my husband asked of me was to check in once in a while so he knew I was safe.

I didn't want to have a kid till my mid-30s. I wouldn't describe myself as passionately for or against having a kid. I just realized one day that someone was missing and I was ready. We all have different journeys.

It was like they were trying to talk us out of it at the same time they were trying to talk us into it.
