Have you ever described the internal fight between good and evil in our own minds as two “shoulder angels” who try to convince us which way to go? One is dressed as an angel, complete with robe and harp. The other is a demon in a red suit with horns.

I've heard about "Iowa Nice" for most of my life. It's a way those of us who live here can poke a little fun at ourselves. But there is a truth behind that fun, nice isn't always kind. And I've come to believe I would really rather be "Iowa Kind."

Why are we prone to buying into scams and false narratives? Sometimes we want to believe something too much or we fear the loss of something dear to us. With all of the false narratives around us we need to think harder about who we're going to believe.

When we’re talking about pesticide drift and how it threatens our health, our wildlife, and our local food systems (at least that which still exists). Then I think it’s pretty close to true.

There’s nerdy postal history and philatelic stuff like uncommon stamp shades and a postal marking that could be misread as “I Am Soap.” And, of course, there are tidbits about the Great Lakes, a manor house built in 1700, and even a ghost story.
