Game #12: Touhou Kinjoukyou ~ Fossilized Wonders

Technically got my first Normal 1cc two days ago, but I only just cleared Extra. The demo gave me a pretty mixed first impression, but the full version actually turned out pretty nice.

Since we're sharing Game Over screens in the replies, I've always found the one from Zelda 2 way more unsettling in the Japanese version. I guess the common ground is that using anything other than "Game Over" (or "You Died") has a lot more weight to it.

Game #11: Tomb Raider Chronicles

Fairly short game, but also one where the devs made it abundantly clear that they hated every second of working on it. The remaster may have fixed the bugs, but kept in all the other questionable design decisions.

Game #10: Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation

Continuing my trip through the classic Tomb Raiders. This one tried a lot of new things, but not all of them landed, and the remaster itself added its own fair share of frustrations with the usual bad lighting.

Game #9: Wonder Boy (SMS)

An any% clear that missed three dolls and took probably dozens of continues, but it still counts! Now I can finally say that I've beaten every entry in the Wonder Boy series.

At last, my other ebay purchase arrived in the mail. It was *supposed* to arrive last Saturday, but the driver either got lazy or his shift ended before he could get to me.

Game #8: The Addams Family

I distinctly remember struggling heavily with this game as a kid, but this time around, I just breezed right through it, despite the slippery controls.

Oh fuck, two games in one day! Got this one by the sheer skin of my teeth. Not to mention I was gripping my controller so hard for most of the playthrough that now my hands hurt...

A major cakewalk, compared to the hell that was Atomic Runner. Though this game wasn't without its sudden and unreasonable difficulty spikes, either.

But hey, another childhood game checked off the list!

Game #5: Atomic Runner

Surprisingly engaging run-n-gun with a banger soundtrack. Managed to get a 1cc after much frustration, though the run that got it couldn't have been any cleaner.

Yeah, that could be it. Mine's only about 14 inches, too. Even in extreme close-ups, you're more likely to make out the shadow mask than any scanlines, and if anything, it feels more vertical than horizontal because the columns are offset.

Credits achieved! Turns out you really do just have to beat the game on Hard, with or without continues.

Aaand poor red twin got all glitched up, even though he's the one I beat the game with.

Gave the game another go for today's stream and was able to get the good ending instead. Also learned that magic is actually surprisingly OP and can downright *melt* bosses.
Fighting a corpulent clown in a throne room while taking the opportunity to pilfer a chest that contains the key required for getting the good ending. A serpentine dragon rises from the mountains, soaring high into the sky. Not pictured: The sky flashing red, blue and yellow the whole time. Woe betide you if you are prone to epileptic seizures. A castle surrounded by forest, with lush green mountains in the back and clouds in the sky. The text reads: "You will never be forgotten."

Lately I've been trying my hand at spicing up instant ramen again. This was the first time I added chicken cutlets as a second protein source alongside poached eggs, and it did a lot to make the dish more filling.
A saucepan on a stove, filled with instant ramen. I only used half the flavor packet for the broth, adding in my own spices and chili flakes instead. Other ingredients include one chopped green onion, two eggs cracked into the broth and allowed to cook in there, two chicken cutlets sliced into strips, and sesame seeds on top as garnish.

Kinda hard-pressed to even *find* four recent games, given that I've mostly been keeping busy with web dev, but this looks like a fitting enough selection. Some puzzles, some bullet hells, some old Sega stuff.

I literally *just* got my hands on it, never even played it before in my life, and already beat it in my first session. Granted, it was neither a 1cc nor did I get the good ending, so there's room upwards.
