I’m struck by the fact that the gov spent €10m to have the #NFL in Dublin but wouldn’t grant visas to Palestinian kids to come and play #GAA here for a few days.

I guess that depends on whether calculators lie awake at night regretting your bad math. Shouldn't the real question be how the industry can protect vulnerable people from being manipulated into believing that AI, which has been deliberately designed to mimic human interaction, is actually sentient?
Can AIs suffer? Big tech and users grapple with one of most unsettling questions of our times
As first AI-led rights advocacy group is founded, industry is divided on whether models are, or can be, sentient

ICYMI this explains strategies like those of Farage. Making morally outrageous proposals makes it easier to promote slightly less atrocious ideas.
Today I wrote about a general tendency to accept atrocious premises, and the need to reject fascism's false choices in order to find expansive and imaginative paths forward.

Breaking the premise, embracing the obstacles, pursing everything.

There Is No Trolley Problem
We actually aren't constrained into atrocious premises by thought exercises. Obstacles are a reason to fight, not an excuse to quit. Our friends and neighbors aren't distractions..

This new report shows that hundreds of people seeking safety in the UK have been imprisoned for arriving on a ‘small boat’ since 2022. Among those are victims of trafficking & torture & children prosecuted as adults.

This practice breaches international law & causes profound harm. It must stop.

People seeking asylum can't afford bus fares in London as they get only £8.86 a week. This isolates them and impacts their mental health.

On Friday we joined @citizensuk.org and others outside City Hall calling on @sebdance.bsky.social to make buses free for those in the asylum system. 1/2
