The 🇩🇰 presidency of the Council is suggesting a range of 66.3%-72.5% for the temporary nationally determined contribution (#NDC) of the EU, "without prejudice to the final agreement of the EU's 2040 climate target". The issue will be discussed tomorrow by Coreper I

In the new draft compromise on the 2040 #climate target, the 3% international carbon credits contributing to the target is now under brackets (which emphasizes that this point is still under discussion), as well as the 2036 date

The European Commission is consulting Member States and MEPs to secure a ‘substantial majority’ on the #climate2040 target before submitting its legislative proposal. This process is delaying the presentation of the text. Still no sign of the target in the institution's latest provisional agenda

🇩🇪 and 🇦🇹 refused to approve the conclusions because of this sentence, which refers to both funds devoted to boosting the competitiveness and clean technologies. For them, this sentence would have opened the door to EU funding for nuclear, which they categorically oppose

Today is #Competitiveness Council day. The Member States ministers will adopt conclusions on the future of the EU competitiveness. Might also be an opportunity for them to say more about what they expect from the clean #industrial deal which will be presented under the Commission first 100 days

Net zero industry act: the new draft compromise of the EU Council Presidency is in @contexte.com. Main changes are about injection of CO2 (article 18, #CCS) and chapter on access to market (articles 19 and 20). It will be discussed by Coreper today. The objective is to reach an agreement on 7/12

The European Parliament has just adopted its position on the Net zero industry act (#NZIA). If everything goes smooth, the Council will reach a general approach on December 7 in order to start the trilogues before Christmas. More soon in @contexte.com

Net zero industry act: New draft compromise from the Spanish Council presidency adds #nuclear fission to the list of strategic technologies. However, it also includes a new provision related to the access to EU funds. Will it be enough to counvince 🇩🇪 to accept nuclear in the strategic list? #NZIA
