Mechs have been kind of a thing for a little bit, we've been using Brigs in PVE since Ash & Iron started and in PVP for as long as Heavy Metal has been happening.

No idea, but I am goddamn glad I don't need to hem and haw over which pieces of guns/armor are the strongest anymore!!!

Yeah, I get that. To this day I still haven't bothered to learn any of Eliksni lore, any of Cabal lore, and I know like the bare minimum of Vex and Hive lore.
You really don't need to worry about the deep-seated stuff until it actually crops up in the story, like the Nine did.

Eh. Most of the people I've tried to introduce to the game haven't liked it or dropped it quickly because of the menu stuff, but once you ignore all of that and try to figure out each concept as it comes, it's easy to digest.
That's what I did anyways. :P
