Intentional grounding can still be called, even if the quarterback is outside of the pocket.
In #KCvsCAR, the ball did not come close to getting back to the line of scrimmage and there was no receiver in the area, so this was a correct call of intentional grounding.

What an interception in #BALvsPIT!
As Justice Hill was falling, the ball was not securely in his control. The correct ruling was to let the action play out as he contacted the ground, which is exactly what the zebras did on this play.
